100-102 Judd St, Kings Cross, London WC1H 9NT
Now this place kind of popped up from nowhere to me and suddenly I saw on Instagram several brunch bloggers visiting and I was confused how this missed my radar.
You may or may not know that half cup is an Instagrammers heaven. Each plate looks like a colourful piece of art that is too pretty to eat. Now I hate to be cliché but this is one of the main things I liked about it, along with its far from average menu. It ticks most boxes.
Situated on the other side of the road from St Pancras station and the british library just half way up Judd Street, this place is a golden gem with abstract, colourful painted walls and the sweetest little cake counter by the doorway.
Like most brunch cafes, we were told we came at the right time (9am – because we are keen like that) as it begins to get extremely busy within the hour with queues flowing down the road. Not something you wanna be doing when you’re hangry post workout. One thing to add: you can book for a party over 4 people.
The menu has a little something for everyone, which adds to its charm along with the colourful rose and charcoal coffees (again, Instagram heaven.)
We went for the chorizo brioche, with grilled chorizo, guacamole, tomato chilli jam, rocket and fried egg, the toasted banana bread with espresso mascarpone and pecan nuts, the buttermilk pancakes with chantilly crème, poached rhubarb and pistachio crumb, the open sandwich with beetroot houmous, goats cheese, nuts and greens, and finally the French toast with caramelised banana and Nutella mascarpone.
A feast for 4 (but actually two people as you know, greedy goblins exist)
Everything was beautiful as you can tell from the pictures, and it really felt special. Every dish provided a different taste. The menu has slightly changed since I went and there are some new winners on there including sweetcorn and courgette fritters as well as middle eastern style baked beans… you need to be prepared to open your wallets fully as one dish simply will not satisfy you when there is so much on offer.
